Synopsis

Gintoki and Shinpachi are in the hospital after they both got hit by Prince Hata's car in Episode 10. Shinpachi is seriously injured but Gintoki is not because, as he says, he drinks strawberry milk everyday. Later while everybody sitting down, an old hospital patient comes up and says he has not seen a Strawberry Milky in a long time. A Strawberry Milky is a man who puts his honor on the line and keeps drinking strawberry milk. Gintoki says he just does odd jobs, which causes the man to react. The old man starts to walk towards the group, pulls out a hair ornament, and points it really close to Shinpachi’s face, causing him to faint.

The group is outside and the man explains he wants them to find the owner of the hair ornament. The women was his first love. He tells the story of his past. The women, Ayano, worked at the Kanzashi dango shop where all the town’s men, infatuated with her, went to eat. The man could not go because he did not have money and he was shy, so he watched from behind corners. One day Ayano admits she noticed his spying everyday. She thought he wanted the food so she gave him some, not realizing he was there for her. The man started to choke on the dumplings and ran away; he later woke up with the hair ornament in his hand. Gintoki accepts the assignment mostly because the man will give them all he owns if the job is done.

While Gintoki and Kagura go to find Ayano, Shinpachi caters to the man’s every whim. The Gintoki, Kagura, and Shinpachi overheard the nurses saying that the old man is broke, whipping them into a rage. They burst open the door and tell the man the deal is off. The man becomes more sick and Gintoki listens to the rest of his story. He says he later heard Ayano got fired from her job because she gave out free dumplings to children, homeless people, dogs, and others. The man wanted to apologize to Ayano as well as see her smile again. The story moves Gintoki and he decides to retake the job.

Kagura lets Sadaharu smell the hair ornament to track Ayano but Sadaharu leads them back home. In reality Sadaharu lead them to Otose, who is Ayano Terada. The old man calls them before he ends up in critical condition because of his heart problem. The group arrive with Otose and the man sees her before he dies.
